TRIDORY was the second straight trimaran from my drawing board following on from the GANNET tri which was a heavy 18 footer day sailer.
The spec was for a lightweight fast boat that would normally carry 2 people, but could be sailed safely by 1 person. The key features of the design are
· Al straight off the shelf xbeams – hard to beat cost wise and almost maintenance free
· Grp molded down tubes means floats can run with little xtra drag when the float deck is just awash.
· Offset daggerboard does not intrude into cockpit space
· Lash on beam / mainhull connections
· All up sailing weght 85kg
· Length 15ft
· Beam 11ft
· Sail Area 145 sq ft
· Large watertight storage locker aft and forward
· Construction stitch and glue plywood 4mm except decks 6mm
Performance of this boat is excellent in flat water and quite testing conditions in the Solent (20-25k mean wnd).On a reach she readily gets up to 12k,although it gets pretty wet at these speeds!
Launched October 2011, now in regular use at Gurnard sailing club
